All new Moons are about new beginnings, and this is especially true to today's new Moon. Virgo is humble, careful, discerning, and above all else, desires to to be effective, to serve; and for Virgo, service is more than a useful action; it is a dharma, because it is an expression of identity.

The time of the new Moon is unique; it is like the time in the womb... it is characterized by a fertile darkness that holds incipient life. The symbol of Virgo is the maiden carrying sheaths of grain... grain which has a double potency: it is not only food now, it is seed for food at a future harvest. What you plant now, no matter how small, will multiply may times and nurture in many ways. In order for Virgo to function freely, it must first purify itself and its environment: it must let go of all the useless "details" and debris that clutter its mind, its life, and its space; never wasteful, it must carefully gather every small 'bit of goodness', and with simplicity and humility, accept the Wholeness that is its true Self. This means Virgo must consciously clear its environment at both the physical and metaphysical levels, to give that Wholeness the space to be and to grow as it will... And Life will "find shelter in its branches."
